Welcome, welcome, sorry about the mess

So this is my blog, it's mainly about Africa and the fact that I'm going there, but it'll probably go on many a tangent before I'm through. Enjoy reading about my adventures, I know I'll enjoy having them.

Running on empty

Have had absolutely no sleep-overnight bus to Mombassa and was sat next to a rather ample sized lady who seemed to think that her legroom wasn't enough and so used up all of mine as well. But lets rewind a little.
I was meant to come to Mombassa straight after the end of the conference (which by the way was amazing) but in typical Wendy fashion changed plans at the last minute. Ended up in a place called Keroka staying with some of the other girls/women (I am so bad at telling peoples ages) from the conference. Is a small village and a small but very lively church. Was a good weekend then left on Monday. The bus broke down in Nairobi where we were stuck for 4 hours-very bored. Got here at 9, found my way to the guest house (thank God for guide books with street maps) had a shower and am now sat in cafe deciding what to eat. Have seen the tusks-the Mombasa landmark-and am off to find Fort Jesus this afternoon. I'm getting quite good at all of this business, at least I like to think that I am. I'm planning on leaving Mombassa on Thursday morning, though as with all my plans that's not set in stone and probably will change. From here I'm going to Tanga which is my first stop in Tanzania. Hoorah
On the bus last night I was almost nodding off when I sensed the bus slowing down, opened my eyes and there was a giraffe stood in the middle of the highway. The road cuts across one of the national parks-technically it actually forms the border between two different parks, but try telling the enimals that.

Hi Wendy

It makes a change for someone else to take up your leg room I guess.
The sight of a Giraffe that close up must have been something spectacular. I want you to keep having fun and just do what feels right all the time it seems to be working out for you so far.
Stay safe honey.
Love you.

Us big ladies do need more leg room. I am a bit the same when I go on buses. But they hurt my neck so I dont go on them often. What are the buses like - I have an image of them being a sort of 1950s style charabanc type of heap of metal. Although if they are, you probably shouldnt say, as your family read this! 4 hour breakdown sounds bad tho. Guess it kind of adds to my theory about what the buses are like - Bullocks buses dont do that much.

Did you take a pic of the giraffe, it seems amazing that they just wander across the highway and arent fazed by the bus. I am glad it wasnt a lion or a man eating tiger tho. Lynne loves giraffes and will be very jealous.

God is certainly putting you in some amazing places, and I suspect He is introducing you to some amzing people - the opportunity you had to go with the girls/women to their village sounds really good - an opportunity to experience their culture and way of life.

Hope Tanzania is everything you expect it to be.

Throughout this blog I am sensing that you are falling in love with Africa, and that this will be your first visit of many. Lynne is like that about Russia. God sends people places, often by convoluted routes, because He wants us to be there. And when we get there we find He was right!

Still looking for cream egg bars - if I find one I will save you one til you get back - is that June sometimes, I lose track.

Love hugs and lots of prayers

Hi Liz

Have just phoned Woolworths in Bramhall and they have them. have a long list of people in my office who want them and will of course be getting one for Wendy. Going at lunch time. Apparently they also have them in Stockport Woolies - Sarah's friend PB (Wendy's sister Sarah, not little Sarah)works there and told us yesterday. 79p each though. Watch this space.

Hoorah an end in sight to the creme egg bar hunt. I was beginning to think they did not exist!. Thank you Amanda for your hard work I hope you are not bankrupt with the long list. See you soon.

Wendy when I eat mine I'll let you know whether it will be worth waiting for.

I hate travelling on buses - they are always a nightmare especially if it is raining. People always drip on you.
Lots of love and hugs x x x x x

Got them. If anybody wants one and can't get to Woolies, just let me know (Wendy's number in Cheadle Hulme should be in the phone book or available at Church). Got some spares which i will have to eat if nobody wants them.

Got you one Wendy with a November sell by date - Yay!

I too have some - Boots in the Trafford centre. If I am at the service this evening I will bring them, since I dont actually like them, I bought them basically for Sarah B etc. But the service isnt til 8.00 and that is nearly my bedtime (I am not joking here, I go to bed early these days, due to pain meds making me sleepy)

Since the adults seem to have it sorted, I will give my supply to Srah B, who is of course an adult herself, for her to share amongst Gt Heights - not sure if enough to go around, but they break in half. Only Sarah B get a whole one for being Cream Egg Bar Monitor. I will save one for Wendy too, and for my Lynne when she gets back from Llandudno, and Helen has taken one to work.

Of all the animals in africa I think I like the giraffes the best, just the way they walk is amazing so now I've seen even more of the. Hoorah.
