Welcome, welcome, sorry about the mess

So this is my blog, it's mainly about Africa and the fact that I'm going there, but it'll probably go on many a tangent before I'm through. Enjoy reading about my adventures, I know I'll enjoy having them.

Fed Up

But let me explain before you all jump to negative conclusions. The English language is something to which one must never apply logic. If you are given food then you have been fed, with me so far. So it followslogically (therefore it must be wrong) that if you are given food enough to fill you up then you must be fed up. It's obvious really when you think about it. In the same logical way tha if fanta is fantastic then cola must-logically-be colastic.
Bear in mind I've pretty much just eaten bread the last week (man shall not live by bread alone but woman is not a good cook so one cancels out the other). This week I've had ugali (think really lumpy porridge mixed with wallpaper paste but less taste), rice, meat stew and cabbage all in one day, twice in a row so I am most deffinately full up.
Conference is going well and the schedule is truley African. People here don't seem to understand the concept of punctuality (though I'm not one to talk). For instance if the service is supposed to start at four the pastor will usually arrive sometime before 5 with the praise and worship team coming in drips and drabs in betweend. Conference was supposed to start officially at 8.30 on Sunday-didn't get going until 4...on Monday. Oh well 'twas all fun and lovely in a strsnge sort of way.
For the first time in weeks, months even I'm not the only white person in church, two of the visiting preachers are from South Africa, nice to see them but do they have to talk so much to me, nowI'm starting to sound like a drunk German. Not good.
Anyway should be going. Can someone like Susie or Sarah do me a favour please. E-mail me to tell me if the finance forms are out yet for uni and if so when they need to be in by. I tried to sort all this out before Ileft but nobody seemed to know. Just need rto see if I can do it when I get back or if I get to ass the rather complicated buck. Oh the joys of having a father who understands money-well better than I do anyway.
May not be able to blog again for a while-it's a trek from the conference venue and I leave on Saturdayevening. Will keep someone posted somehow though. Fancy an ice cream.
Oh by the way-I finally rode a boda-boda (a taxi which is basically a bike with a cushion strapped to the rear mud gaurd). Wasn't as bad as I expected-now where's that ice cream. Ah there you are, hello my friend.

Hi Wendy
What a surprise I am your first comment. Just about to go to eat lunch but it won't make you jealous. Sandwiches and yoghurt.
This may make you jealous - when I go on holiday in September I will be staying quite close to my favourite ice-cream shop. Yum.

Time scale out there would sort of suit me as I just about scrape in to places on time.

On the news yesterday the latest is book publishing from blogs. All sorts of people are reading them and people have been published and become accidental authors. Shall we watch your space?

Hope it is not too long before you read your comments.

Lots of love

Hi Wendy, glad they are feeding you well. Over there they apparently have Creme Egg chocolate bars, filled with Creme Egg filling, as I detest Creme Eggs I havent had one, Lynne says they are quite sickly tho.

You sound to be having a fabulous, spirit enriching faith enhancing time. Things have turned out great for you, just as God planned.

As for the stuff about uni finance, Helen brought her stuff home from Aquinas today, I think Cheadle have had theirs longer, theere were posters on the walls about a date when people could have their forms checked by someone. But since you are living in Oldham, you will get the papers from Oldham, not Stockport. Just have your dad phone the Education dept and they will send them out.

OUr weather is odd, Neil was mowing the lawn for the first time this year this afternoon when it started to snow! I guess there wont be snow in Africa - hey that would make a song line (grin)

Where are you off to after the conference thingy, is it Tanzania next?

Love hugs and prayers

I've got the finance forms, but I can't find a date for return on them anywhere.

Come to think of it, I don't know whether i need to do mine now or next year.

Susie - you do yours next year if you are taking a gap year. How much loan you get is based on past income of your parents, if you fill them in this year the dates they base it on will be wrong. I think. Wendy I phoned Sharon and told her what I had put on blog about getting the forms.

As for dates, they like them soonish, but dont worry if they cant be for some reason, like you are abroad at the time! Some people only apply on clearing to uni.

If I knew how to contact you big sis, you could have a creme egg bar - do you live in Cheadle Hulme, I am guessing that is where Lynne (my daughter) bought hers. parkinsonliz@hotmail.com is my email, I will ask her and if you email me I will tel lyou

Wendy - you have til October to apply for you student loan, dont worry about it til you get back. Spoke to Sharon last night and told her that too. They have the bulk of college students do it early, but they deal with people such as yourself later.

Hope you are okay - it is SUUNY today here

Sorry Wendy for this. Hi Liz, I live in Cheadle Hulme and I have just seen Sarah for lunch. If you tell me which shop it is, I will happily go there and get one for Sarah for the next time I see her (although I would have to buy myself one as well, and one for Wendy, if the sell-by date is long enough)

By the way Wendy, I saw Myrtle Cow in M & S but her sell-by date was 6 June so she wouldn't have kept for your return. Ah well! Sorry.

They dont have them in the Tesco Express in Cheadle Hulme near the church. Lynne got hers at the big Tesco in Stockport. I am still not driving, so dont know where else has them. If the rain ever stops today I will be going to Morrisons, as it is walkable, I will have a look to see if they are there. Although they sound very disgusting. My great love is Dark Chocolate Toblerone, or Green and Black Maya Gold, but dont eat much chocolate

I was on Edgeley this morning - this is walking distance for me, not allowed to drive yet after surgery, and looked for them there, but didnt see any. But I bought a small Bagpuss. I am related to him you know. The name I am researching in my family tree is DUROSE, and in 1284 Emacina Durose married Sir Geoffrey de Bakpuss.

Those of you had thought I might be a normal sane person now know otherwise. I wear clothes made from curtain material, I am related to Bagpuss and Robin Hood (Robert Earl of Loxley's mum was Lucy Durose and all my Duroses are from Loxley), and I make cow costumes.

Oh - yes handforth dean is a good place to try. Lynne is thinking of going to Costco and buying a box full!

Wendy, I hope you are having a fabulous time. Do they have Creme Eggs in Kenya

Hi Liz (sorry Wendy) - no joy yet at Handforth Dean and I also ended up in Stockport yesterday - none at Tesco there - too late for Woolies but I bet they have them!

Hope things are going well Wendy.

Any news on where to find a cream egg bar as i have come to the conclusion that i would quite like to try one!

I originally thought the creme egg bars came from Africa! mind you they might as well guaging the success we are having in finding them.
Wendy if you see Cadbury Creme Egg bars there are a lot of people here wanting to try them (that is if you can prevent them melting!) we have just had a snow shower here on 9th April. The mind boggles.

Ah yes Aero Truffle bars. True I confess to not obtaining for Wendys mum but in my defence she has usually tried everything even before I am aware of their existance. Only ate mine last week but was not impressed. Now the old shape mint aero Yum Yum Yum Yum.

Wendys mum oh wonderful sister you have blown my anonymity!. I know the sister bit had been given away but my name was still a secret!

I am sure that deserves two creme egg bars!

I had better close now before I get into any more bother. The snow has stopped now thankfully and it must be time for tea.

Wendy I am really intrigued how you can buy gingerbread men in the middle of Africa. Please put me out of my misery. If the answer is Greggs I would have to believe every word your mum tells me! ! !
She told me Greggs and I almost fell for it.

Lots of love and hugs. Looking forward to your next entry.. Was the icecream nice? x x x x x

Lynne tells me that she got hers from Woolworths in Stockport. Ravis newsagent near me often has unusual things, I will look there, as you may know, I had an accident a few days before Christmas (dont ask) and have an injured neck and hand - had a n injured leg but that got better. anyway, had surgery on hand and not driving, so woolies is hard for me to get to,although I will perhaps be able to drive a little this week. I will look for them if I get into woolies, and will then auction them off to the highest bidder (grin). heretic as this may seen, I dont like creme eggs at all, never have, even before I was diabetic. Do any of the older ones here remember when they did Border Cream Eggs, I was in my teens, so about 30 years ago. Now they were wonderful!

Wendy you are wandering around Africa having all sorts of adventures as part of God's rich plan for your life. YOur friends and family are in a very cold and rainy England discussing CREAM EGGS.

Hope you are okay at wherever you are

Love, hugs and prayers

I have just read on the BBC website that doctors are researching the BENEFITS of chocolate in the prevention of heart disease. www.bbc.co.uk/news And since the contributors to this blog are a bunch or raving chocoholics I thought you would all like to know. Oh - and Selfridges now sell a sandwich costing £85.00. That is not a type. Wendy, how long would that feed a Kenyan family for?

Liz
