Welcome, welcome, sorry about the mess

So this is my blog, it's mainly about Africa and the fact that I'm going there, but it'll probably go on many a tangent before I'm through. Enjoy reading about my adventures, I know I'll enjoy having them.

Getting out alive...priceless

In the days since our last blog we've been made to appreciate the smaller things in life, a cold drink, English Weather, bugs that arn't the size of a house. I exaggurate but still. We sort of got our plans hijacked on arriving in Er Rachiddia, but hijacked in an ultimately good way. Any way long story short at around 6 last night we we,re to be found riding camels off into the Sahara for the night. This is no longer (and was never) our favourite mode of transport. When I say riding camels I don't mean the nice tourist ones with a chair perched either side of the hump, I'd have killed for a chair, not that I could sit properly anymore. No we had saddles (in the form of a stack of blankets with handle bars wedged in somehow). Suffice it to say a camel was not designed with the human rear in mind.
Not that I'm complainig, we slept on blankets ( the same ones that were our saddles, very economical) on the top of a sand dune and and saw shooting stars ate traditional Moroccan Tajine dishes and played a sort of berber chess type game by moonight and all that very romantiscised deserty stuff. It was a once in a life time experience, at least my arse severly hopes it was. Maybe another time when Sarah has her 4x4.
All the time though we kept thinking about the credit card advert where they list all the mundane things and then one thing that was priceless. A lot of thing in the last few day have been priceless, at least to us.
Later tonight we have an overnight bus to Fes then think we're going to hit the coast again after that.

Oh year, don't worry mum, we did have guides throughout all of this. Well, apart from the time just after dark in the middle of the desert when they both left us and took off with one of the camels to go to te weel which took 20 minutes.

Hi Girls

No, Sarah's licence hasn't arrived yet - I will text her as soon as it does come.

Will try and get some Harry Potter tickets ordered. Watch this space.

What's this about a 4X4?

Your trip sounds incredible. Absolutely amazing. What are the natives like?

Love from Mum x x x
